Episode 1 : The Nelson Mandela Lecture is an annual event that was inaugurated on the occasion of Mr Mandela's 85th Birthday on 19 July 2003. The Nelson Mandela Annual Lecture has been developed into prestigious public lecture, attracting the best intellectual voices in the world and adds to the larger public dialogue on critical social issues. The purpose of the Nelson Mandela Annual Lecture is two-fold: First, it is an occasion to celebrate Nelson Mandela legacy. Secondly, it provides a forum for the critical consideration of challenging social issues that confront us in the 21st Century. Whilst raising the challenges, the lecture also points to possibilities for solutions.
