Two boys, Yanga and Maile, have commandeered a shack built in Yanga’s back yard in Soweto and turned it into a TV command centre. From the shack they have learned to hack into the SABC’s transmission programme. After a six-month “holiday” the boys return to SABC 2 screens in Hack Shack II. This time, with a REAL mission. This time around, they want to represent each and every kid in the country. They want to use the Hack Shack to empower themselves and more importantly, their audience. They want to be their voices, and explore and investigate on behalf of them. “Go looking where Adults don’t care to look!” The boys have also decided to take the business of TV very serious and endeavor to learn and experiment along with their viewers. By the end of the series, the boys will be “professional” broadcasters with al their learnings visible in the production of their hit TV series and their audience very much informed on the ways of the industry.

As before, the boys “employ” friends from around the country (Durban, Cape Town & Johannesburg) to help them explore and investigate topics, stories and people. In addition to this, the two hack “pioneers” also start to produce mini home made movies to help “tell” stories or drive home messages. The production of these mini-movies also puts their newly acquired TV production skills to the test.
